Last week Shell announced they were to withdraw from Cambo proposals due to supposed issues around the economic justification of the project. Today, another key partner, Siccar Point Energy, announced it would also be pulling out from the project, which sits approximately 125km northwest of the Shetland Isles.

Scottish Government approves controversial Vaccine Passport Scheme
The Scottish Parliament yesterday (9 September 2021) voted in favour of launching a vaccine passport scheme which will require people in Scotland to prove they have been fully vaccinated before they can enter nightclubs and large events. The Scottish Government hopes the scheme will encourage everyone, particularly young people, to get fully vaccinated, and will also make venues and events safer, making further restrictions less likely.
Drug deaths in Scotland continued to rise in 2020
1339 people died as a result of drug misuse in Scotland in 2020, an increase of 75 from the previous year, marking a seventh consecutive year of record deaths.
100 days to COP26

More than half of UK adults fully vaccinated … but Britain isn’t out of the woods yet
As of Thursday (3 June 2021), 26,422,303 people across the UK have received both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. Health Secretary, Matt Hancock, also confirmed that three quarters of UK adults have had their first jab. One of the few achievements in an otherwise disastrous response from the UK Government over the last 15 months.
Protesters successfully stop Home Office raid in Glasgow
Hundreds of protesters in the Southside of Glasgow have today (13 May 2021) managed to stop a Home Office attempt to detain and deport two local residents to Afghanistan. At around 10am this morning, calls went out from local direct action groups, including the No Evictions Network, to physically resist the deportation attempt. One individual lodged himself underneath the Home Office van before other activists could arrive to stop the van from moving.
